Transforming his business from photography to filmmaking 

Weldon Brewster has always been a fervent storyteller, attributing this trait to his Texas roots. Unlike many in our program who seek guidance to start their business, he was already flourishing in his career as a photographer.

He sheepishly admitted that in his 20s he’d often work one to two days a week, while the rest of his time was spent surfing, hiking, and mountain climbing. But the shift from film to digital photography marked a turning point.

To stay afloat, Weldon had to adapt, and he did so, carving out a niche with architecture, construction, and engineering clients.

However, the rise of AI presented a new challenge Weldon couldn’t ignore. Recognizing the increasing demand for video content, he knew it was time to pivot.

Filmmaking would now take center stage, with photography becoming a complementary service. Weldon joined the mentorship program to navigate this transition smoothly, seeking accountability, intentional progress, and a push to keep moving forward while managing his business.

Rebranding himself as a filmmaker, Weldon honed his storytelling approach, setting himself apart from the average filmmaker. He embraced AI tools, which he once saw as a threat, to enhance his efficiency and creativity. With the right guidance, these tools became integral to his workflow.

Now, under the banner of "Structural Stories," Weldon is eager to share the stories he was born to tell. “I love to tell stories. One of the things I like about storytelling is the connection with other human beings,” he said. His advice to future mentees is clear: commit fully and embrace the journey.

Weldon's now completed his first film as a director under the new approach and name. He's pitching his clients the creative process, executing and delivering films at levels he never dreamed of before. It's not just an adaptation from photography, he's revolutionized the way he creates and does business. 

With the right guidance, tools, and a supportive community, he has not only adapted to industry changes but thrived, ready to tell the structural stories that resonate deeply with audiences.
